Savinelli 320 Noce (A Tobacco Pipe Review For You!)

Whether you’re new to the hobby or a seasoned smoker, Savinelli has a pipe in their line for you!

Today we will be discussing the 320 Noce; a wonderful author shaped pipe that I have personally owned for several years.

The 320 shape, with its large bowl and bold countenance, seems to be one of the more popular offerings from Savinelli and it’s easy to see why. Perfect for a more prolonged smoke, an hour plus at least, this pipe can handle any tobacco you throw at it and give you an impressive, memorable smoke.

The pipe retails for $230 on When I bought it years ago, it went for $250, so it has gone down a bit over the years. In the box, the pipe comes with a filter draft-hole adapter, two stems (one black and one caramel swirled), a pipe sock and a pack of balsa filters.

Like most Savinelli pipes, the 320 Noce takes a 6mm balsa filter. They promise a drier smoke, as the triangular piece of balsa wood, carefully inserted into the stem, soaks up the moisture from the tobacco before it hits your mouth. I don’t personally use the filter system, but I know many people who swear by it and report a drier, more enjoyable smoke.

Unique to the Noce line, this pipe has a beautiful rustication on the bowl and shank. The deep crags bring to mind a walnut or tree bark, as does the shape. I’ve received many compliments on the carving job of this particular pipe, and it only gets better with age.

Another unique quality of the 320 Noce is that it has a natural finish. This process allows the pipe to take on the color of the tobacco as you smoke it. Much like a meerschaum, this pipe will color over time. The picture above shows what my 320 Noce looks like now, after several years of smoking. Here is what it looked like when I first bought it:

As you can see, it has taken on a considerable amount of color over the years, going from a light tan to a dark brown as I smoked it.

The Savinelli 320 Noce is an excellent pipe, as well as a beautiful one, that is well-drilled and tooled for perfect smoke. It will undoubtedly stand the test time and offer you many happy clouds of smoke.
